First in the Wave Collection. I felt like I was taking a brave step painting this. Larger and more realistic then any wave I'd painted yet. The wave itself looks bold and brave and so naturally from my experience Courage felt like a beautiful name.
The photo reference for this one come from Sammy Garcia who captures so many incredibly beautiful waves!
I started painting waves in 2021, But they were quick 30-45 min small paintings that I did in my exercise book. I found them therapeutic, my love for the ocean is no secret, sometimes I think I was born to be a West coast girl but I'm landlocked in Minnesota because I love my family. Don't get me wrong MN is a beautiful state. But the salty sea breeze and sound of crashing waves always floods me a feeling thats hard to explain.
So I set out to paint waves large and in detail. Each painting seemed to linger on my table for a whole month while I slowly chipped away at them. I love each of these painting so much and I hope they connect with you they way they do with me.
