Second in the Wave Collection. This is a wave I've actually painted for the 3rd time now. It was the first wave i was really proud of in my exercise book and I painted it again as an ornament. But neither painting was truly detailed the way this one is.
The photo reference for this one come from Sammy Garcia who captures so many incredibly beautiful waves!
I started painting waves in 2021, But they were quick 30-45 min small paintings that I did in my exercise book. I found them therapeutic, my love for the ocean is no secret, sometimes I think I was born to be a West coast girl but I'm landlocked in Minnesota because I love my family. Don't get me wrong MN is a beautiful state. But the salty sea breeze and sound of crashing waves always floods me a feeling thats hard to explain.
So I set out to paint waves large and in detail. Each painting seemed to linger on my table for a whole month while I slowly chipped away at them. I love each of these painting so much and I hope they connect with you they way they do with me.
